Exactly. It’s the leader’s job to take those decisions, based on incomplete information, and responsibility for it.

Often I find that highly technical and competent people can have difficulty recommending courses of action, precisely because the more able they are, the more clearly they see all the pitfalls which lie in every direction. Or, a potential choice gets weighed up against some ideal, which is unfortunately not a viable option.

Taking clear responsibility for the final decision makes it easier for these contributors to give clear input.
