For me, this cuts straight through the whole ‘he said, she said’ diversionary nature of today’s political landscape.
I have a 17 month old son who is going to grow up in a world markedly different from the one I enjoyed; we all know that things can’t go on but you won’t find discussion of what comes next (brings to mind a similar political situation we’re currently stumbling through).
The articles’ final point that it is down to citizens to make the change is right on. The only way to do this is to risk the ridicule of building metaphorical boats on dry land so they can be used as the waters rise. In other words start planning at the local level now because at this point government and their media handlers are blinded by the ideology of the ‘market’.
Be nice to your neighbours.
