Thanks for writing this! I worked for orthopedists for many years and learned even more anatomy during that time (even though I just worked in the office). The wrist is an amazing joint, so complex. It’s made up of 8 little bones, two rows of four bones that make it possible for our hands and arms to make all those complex moves. But if one of those little bones is broken, it can take a very, very long time to heal — and surgery, casting, rehab forever — then sometimes they don’t heal at all. There is surprisingly little blood flow to those tiny bones. Yes! Protect — and for heaven’s sake, don’t try to strengthen your wrists! Arms, yes. Wrists — oh, please when you fall, curl them up into your body. They are a wonderful little mystery in the human body.
