MUSEUM Season 1 Episode 1
IA#4

I would like to explain first the title of my article- Museum Season 1 Episode 1. I chose that title because our professor gave us a series of museums to visit so I decided to write my museum visits in a tv series form. So the first museum that I’ve visited this term is the National Museum of the Philippines. I went with my friends, Nicole and Bela, last February 10, 2016. It was my first time to witness the beautiful artworks there and I was fascinated by the sculptures, photographs, paintings, and artifacts. National Museum of the Philippines had a great job preserving the artworks. The artworks are open for public viewing .The guards were really strict and I understand them because they need to be extra careful in protecting the Philippine’s finest artworks.
Here are some artworks that caught my eyes:

It is made of polychrome concrete sculpted during the year 1910–1920’s by Isabelo Tampinco.

This Hall was originally designed to be a library in the early 1920s during the American colonial period, when the architect Juan Arellano revised the plans of Ralph Harrington Doane in order to convert the building to the seat of the legislature.

This is the Retablo (altar piece) from the Church of San Nicolas de Tolentino in Dimiao, Bohol.

Fernando C. Amorsolo, the first National Artist of the Philippines, was known for his oil paintings of rural life made in the classical style.

It was a barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989.
and of course,

The Spolarium by Juan Luna. When you enter the National Museum, it will be like the biggest artwork that you’ll see there. We all know that the artwork is about dying gladiators.
(We also did a little photoshoot inside the museum for Instagram purposes)

In conclusion, I had fun with my friends. We saw many artworks that every Filipino should see. The artworks were fantastic.Visiting a museum is like witnessing Philippines’ history by other means. We can see the different ways of artists on how they express art. It was really fun but to be honest, it was also exhausting. I can say that my friends enjoyed the visit too even though they just came to accompany me. I’m looking forward to the next episode of my museum visits! Au revoir! (for now)
