It is now an eating disorder to understand that you’re pre-diabetic and need to do something about it? News to me. Sounds more like you needed to do something about your hatred of yourself and your body. And maybe you’ve gotten there. But you better keep an eye on that blood sugar because you’re doing the same thing that almost all the diet goo-roos do, which is focus on the weight and not on what the food’s doing to your body. A small fries even when you’re hungry can be a disaster to a prediabetic. And most of the versions of Paleo I’ve seen have *not* focused on calories because in the end it’s not the calories that make people sick. (There IS a contingent of Paleo adherents who insist calories matter, but they don’t speak for everybody.) Ditto for a lot of the low-carb plans. And that’s the direction you need to go. Eat all you want of the not-junky stuff (bread is junk… excessively sugary fruit is junk)… but reconsider your relationship with the junk. I would give that advice to anyone of any size. I’ve lived, personally, what happens when I do not heed that advice.
