Remember Biosphere 2? We can’t even build a glass box here on Earth and survive in it as a closed system without popping open the widows after a few days…

I am baffled by the ability many have to simultaneously believe that “We are all doomed here on Earth, because we have totally screwed up and irrevocably destroyed our environment” while also believing that “We are so brilliant and cool that we can terraform any dead rock and live forever!”

If we are going to try Promethean planet-building, let’s start with carefully and thoughtfully repairing the one we find ourselves on, which happens to already have oceans, forests, soil, and all the other ingredients we primates not-so-coincidentally have evolved to require.
