I’ve joined The Dots
I’m pleased to say that I’ve joined The Dots, a startup that Forbes has described as LinkedIn for creatives. My close friends and colleagues will understand the attraction for me immediately. But for the rest of you I thought I’d unpack the move a bit more.
Over the last 5 years I’ve spent a lot of time volunteering & working with a variety of groups. Organizations like Creative Equals, Hyper Island, Apps for Good, and more. What each group had in common was a desire to make the creative industries a better, more diverse place. Working at The Dots means my day job and volunteer efforts finally align 100%. I know these values run deep in the company because I’ve known The Dots CEO Pip Jamieson for a few years now.
In that same timespan, I’ve also spent a lot of time consulting with a host of startups. Mainly via Techstars but also on my own. It was high-time for me to finally take the plunge myself.
There’s a lot of chaos in the creative industries right now. Brexit, AI automation, open war between agencies & consultancies to name a few issues. The community of creatives and recruiters that use The Dots will be at the tip of the spear of dealing with those changes. I can’t think of a better place to be in terms of seeing the #futureofwork play out. I expect to learn an awful lot.
You’ll be hearing a lot more from me over the next few weeks and months as I help build a world-class design team, launch new products, and more as Head of Product Design at The Dots. #staytuned
