The Final Prototype and Presentation| Week 5 | Cogs 187A
Last week we got feedback on our prototype and spent the weekend iterating on it. The biggest changes we made were making the letters bigger, getting the layout of pages more consistent, adding a touch of color, and finishing up the logos.

We decided to name our app ‘Ripple’. A ripple effect is caused when a droplet hits a larger body of water. We felt that our app, which would get people out there and experience new things, and meet new things, was akin to this phenomenon. We made our logo the bucket, as we felt the best direction to market our app would be to really push the bucket list idea. The bucket list is a checklist comprised of one’s aspirations, which would make our app more appealing than the competition.
With our prototype done, it was time to start filming the commercial. We had the idea to show Mark, our hero, enjoying all of the different activities he would be able to find if he were to use our app. We tried to emphasize that he made new friends along the way, with whom he continues to spend time with. This was important to us as we wanted to show how our app would solve our problems, which was to find a way to tackle boredom and depression, and introducing new activities and people into one’s life in this age group.
For the rest of the week, we made a demo video to show how our app would work, and a competitor analysis to show how our app is different from everyone else, and a overview of its features. We spent the time in class to put together the slides and practice our presentation.

All in all this was a very challenging class. The amount of thought that goes into simply designing how the layout would look like took a lot of brainstorming and iterating. Thinking about what features would help tackle our problem was a lot of fun. We’ve come a long way since struggling to come up with a team name and animal. Now we’re just looking forward to presenting our hard work to the class tomorrow.
