Excellent article with an often overlooked motif. There are a lot of startups scrambling to find investors that forget the implications of what taking money means. Once you take investment there is an expectation of exit. I’m surprised that more investors don’t demand this type of analysis (even on a basic level) from their portfolio companies. It’s also important for startups to be reminded of the motivation of investors just so everyone is clear on objectives from the start.
