No disrespect meant toward your goal or towards Columbia, just unhelpfully venting at the current situation in which such a convoluted route is needed to get into journalism. It’s not even the seeming unfairness of it, it’s just *harmful* — news organizations that use a prestigious graduate degree as a litmus for hiring are killing themselves and the industry.
