Sorry, this doesn’t make sense to me. Given the selection sample of most popular movies, why should we expect the rating distribution to be normal? The popularity of a movie often correlates with its production budget. You could also argue that it correlates to a kind of conservative homogeneity when it comes to casting and script. What’s the reason to believe that this selection (regardless of sample size) would have an even distribution of quality?
