NBA 2K21 Release Date, Cover Star, and New Features
2K sports have always been a craze. This year is no exception. At present, we don’t know much about NBA 2K21 yet, and it could be weeks or months before new content is released. However, here’s our prediction and expectation of NBA 2K21’s release date, cover stars, and new features.
NBA 2K21 Release Date
There is no firm release date for NBA 2K21 yet.
However, looking at past editions can give us a good gauge for when to expect 2K21. NBA 2K18 came out on 15 September, NBA 2K19 on 7 September, and NBA 2K20 on 6 September. The NBA 2K21 release date, then, should be either Friday 4 September or Friday 11 September — on PS4 and Xbox One, that is. For the next-gen consoles of PS5 and Xbox Series X, you’ll have to wait until they are released in late 2020.
In Take-Two Interactive’s (2K’s parent company) recent earnings report, NBA 2K21 is listed as coming in “Fall 2020” which is in line with previous years.
NBA 2K21 Cover Star
Who will be the cover star this year? We don’t know who will appear on the NBA 2K21 cover just yet, but you can expect multiple star players and an announcement sometime in May or June.
There have been some BIG names on the 2k covers over the years too, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Michael Jordan to name a few.
Last year, there were multiple NBA 2K20 cover athletes. Lakers star Anthony Davis graced the cover of the standard edition and Digital Deluxe Edition. Again, Dwyane Wade appeared on the Legend Edition.
But one name stands out… Kobe Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers icon lost his life in a helicopter crash in late January 2020, and the whole sporting world went into mourning. It’s extremely likely that 2K makes Kobe their Legend edition cover athlete, even if it is for a higher edition of the game.
While the cover star for the Standard edition is predicted to be Luka Doncic.
NBA 2K21 New Features
The new game is being designed to offer an experience that can be appealing to players of all skill levels. The game will feature real-time tutorials, tips, and shot suggestions, much like most recently produced golf games.
There is also Pro Vision, Distance Control and Putt Preview to provide tools for each shot.
2K announced a few instances of online play including Alt-Shot, Stroke Play, Skins, and the 4-Player Scramble. The Online Societies that Golf Club fans have enjoyed for the past versions are returning, and this function allows you to play full seasons and tournaments online. It’s the perfect entry into eSports, and golf might be the best and most untapped traditional sport from a competitive gaming standpoint.
In addition, Career mode is something fans can’t resist, and 2K has taken good care of it. NBA 2K20’s career mode was appreciated a lot. It was considered to be the best so far. Moreover, the voiceover by Idris Elba and LeBron James added more effect to it. Therefore, there are high expectations for the upcoming one. Surely, the next release will come up with a powerful storyline. So how excited are you to witness it??
