People can be such ass-hats. I wish you were still in Philly area so I could give you a hug next time I’d see you. You handled that very well.

I had a neighbor follow me and my 2yo nephew up the lawn yelling I was an unfit mother (uh, ouch?) because I asked him to stop blocking my driveway with his car. He was aggressive and I felt threatened, something I will not tolerate. After that, if the drive was blocked, I called the cops. A few courtesy visits from Abington’s finest, problem solved. Flash forward a few years, we wave hello and my drive is clear. I’m sure he hates me, but as long as he behaves civilly and respects my property rights, I couldn’t care less.

I think how you responded was mature and well reasoned. That said, it’s not your job to transform anyone. There will always be more “Bills” presenting themselves in a wide range of fun flavors. If how you handled it made YOU feel better about the situation it served it’s purpose. Otherwise, IMHO, you are not obliged to engage. Haters gonna hate. So, sure, let ‘em…but they need to leash their f**king dogs. ;)
