Decklist Spotlight: How to deal with Jade Druid
With the release of the Ultimate Infestation card, the Jade Druid has been dominating the ladder scene across all ranks. The goal is fairly simple as the Jade Druid: Ramp up to 10 mana with the help of Wild Growth, Jade Blossom, Nourish, and Innervate, then unleash one of the biggest tempo swings in the game, providing you 5 armor, 5 damage to an enemy, a 5/5 minion, AND 5 additional cards, making it stronger than most 10-mana cards developed by Kazakus.

So, how do we counter the almighty Jade Druid? With a Druid deck of course, but a much more aggressive version. The Aggro Druid with Innervate and minion buffs has the ability develop an extremely wide board and end the game by turn 6 or 7 to avoid late game tempo swings or finishes such as Ultimate Infestation, the Lich King, and Bloodreaver Gul’dan.

Although the Aggro Druid lacks some of the newer and more powerful cards such as the Ultimate Infestation and Malfurion the Pestilent, the Aggro Druid usually ends the game by the time control decks can stabilize and utilize their late game cards. We’re looking for an early board presence with a hoard of 1-mana and 2-mana drops. If you’re lucky enough to dodge a board clear, the Aggro Druid snowballs even further by buffing all minions on board with cards such as Mark of the Lotus, Power of the Wild, and Savage Roar, making it even more difficult to clear as each turn passes. And when you’re opponent is able to pull off a board-clear, the Aggro Druid can always rebuild a massive board with Living Mana and buff cards.
Not only is this one of the most powerful decks on ladder, but arguably the best deck to play in our Time Trials or Beat The Clock. Being able to innervate a Vicious Fledgling, or even better, double innervate a Bittertide Hydra, nearly guarantees you a victory by turn 4 or 5. Playing 3–4 minions and buffing them by turn 3 with the help of coin or Innervate can also win you some quick games given that your opponent has no answer to clear the board.
