ADPR 2200 Assignment 1
My name is Danny Castelli, and I grew up in Glenview, Illinois, a town north of Chicago, but I was born outside Detroit, Michigan. When it comes to writing, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say that I sit at a 7, because, while I do enjoy it for the most part, it takes me an extremely long time to get writing assignments done. When I’m not working on assignments, I like to relax by watching television or a movie, playing sports or video games, and listening to music. Growing up, I never had just one role model, because I have always looked up to both of my parents due to the different traits that my parents have. When I have a family of my own, I want to be compassionate and extremely helpful like my mother, while also being honest and respectable like my father. I also hope to have a dog instead of cat, like my family does now.
Through middle school, high school, and my freshman year of college, I took spanish as a foreign language. Over winter break, my family took a trip to Cancún, Mexico, which was the first time that my brother and I had left the country, where I was able to speak spanish a good amount. However, I am not a big fan of hispanic food, and prefer italian or most asian food instead.
In the morning, before going to class, the very first thing I do is check my phone and go on my instagram account, dcastelli97, and see what new pictures people have posted in the past day. After that I go on Youtube, and see if there’s any new videos on my newsfeed to watch from some of my favorite channels like “Cracked” or “CoralFish12g,” an account that my friend runs. This represents my life hashtag, which would be “#relax.” I try to never get to worked up about things or get overly worried and keep moving forward. This can help with my dream job, which is to do advertising or marketing in commercials or billboards for some of my favorite brands like Nike and Adidas. I also go on my computer most mornings to check my email. My computer’s background is the default microsoft version so there is a new image almost everyday, which I enjoy.
My dad like to play a game with people where they say who they would like to play them in a movie, and then who ends up playing them, with the joke being that the second actor is much worse than the first. He says that he wants Ben Affleck to play him in a movie, but Ray Romano would end up playing him. I would want Matthew McConaughey to play me in a movie, but I would end up getting Topher Grace because people believe that I look like his character in “That 70’s Show.”
While my parents have always been my biggest influences, I have had other mentors throughout my life, such as my high school radio teacher, Daniel “Doc” Oswald. Doc gave me the best piece of advice I’ve received, when, before my graduation, he told me “In life, it’s not the grades you make, but the hands you shake” meaning that grades don’t equal out to success, but instead it’s the personal connections you make that can get you far, and I have used that to my advantage in the past few years.
A few things that many people don’t know about me is that I lost my first tooth when I was wrestling with my brother at the age of 2, I have flat feet, and I have never seen a real gun in person.
