Tell Me More About How Much You Hate Millennials, You Old Fart
Ellie Guzman

I think what you describe—the older generation looking down on the younger one—is as old as the hills. It’s not new. When I was your age, I felt disparaged as well. I was disparaged. I remember my 20’s as a dark time.

I think that dislike, distrust, misunderstanding and judgement runs in both directions between the generations—it does so now, as it did years ago when I was your age.

One thing I didn’t have was the lovely Internet to express myself on. I tried creating a Zine on a Xerox, leaving copies on parked cars’ windshields; but that turned out to be a lot of work with diminishing returns.

I think we can all count our blessings as easily as our curses. No one really knows what it’s like to walk in another’s shoes. It’s taking me a long time to look at people that way. As I get older, I hope empathy will be my greatest attribute.
