The Cookout King

Michael Andrews, capturing the moment with fellow Cookout employees, minutes after completing his fifty-nugget challenge at Milledgeville’s local Cookout.

Michael Anthony Andrews is a comedic, profane, and passionate sophomore Mass Communications student studying at Georgia College. He enjoys his time filming and editing videos and pictures, advocating against the parking laws on campus, perfecting his skills in Madden NFL 19, and eating at cookout, where he is the self-proclaimed fifty-nugget challenge champion. Michael stays involved in his campus through greek life, where he is currently an active member and Risk Manager for the Epsilon Upsilon chapter of Pi Kappa Phi.

Q: Why did you decide to attend Georgia College?

A: Um, honestly, I decided to attend Georgia College because, frankly I didn’t even get into UGA, so I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to go anywhere else, because I hated Georgia Southern, I hated Georgia State, and Alabama was too expensive. So, I visited Georgia College and I enjoyed the girl to guy ratio, you know, that was pretty nice, and the small campus feel, so I could, you know, eat lunch with my teachers, and have small classes, and there’s good restaurants around here. So yeah, that’s pretty much why I enjoy Georgia College.

Q: What is your opinion on the GCPD?

A: Honestly, fuck the GCPD. Um, I’ve gotten nine parking tickets since freshman year. I got another one last week for parking the wrong way in front of our own fraternity house. So, they need to focus on something besides fucking ticketing students who pay for a god damn parking pass. They need to stop shutting down parties ’cause it’s too loud. Tell the old people to fucking get earplugs. Um, other than that, I mean, they’re pretty chill. I mean, them and I are like, sort of friends, since I see them all the time because I’m risk manager. Um, so yeah, no worries, but yeah, I mean, they’re alright, but I honestly still hate them.

I’ve gotten nine parking tickets since my freshman year.

Q: What do you do when you are not practicing your major?

A: I like to play Madden NFL 19. I play Madden like 24/7. I’ve dropped like 200 bucks on the game. I play against all my roommates, they’re so bad. And I like to make videos and take pictures as well, but Madden takes priority over all of that.

Q: What is your favorite spot to eat at in Milledgeville and why?

A: I believe that my favorite spot to eat in Milledgeville has to be Cookout. I never really went to Cookout in high school, but being in college, it’s so close, and it’s $5.36 for so much food. What I get is $7.48, and it’s a lot of food, it fills me up instantly. All the workers are nice. They know my name, I know their name, I know their stories. They’re so friendly, and that’s why Cookout is the #1 restaurant in Milledgeville.

Q: In regard to Cookout, what is the most food that you have eaten in one sitting?

A: The other night, I attempted the fifty-nugget challenge at Cookout, after eating a full Cookout tray. I ate forty-nine nuggets, had to use the restroom to clear some more space, went back and ate the last nugget, and I actually got a picture with all the Cookout workers, and I get my own Cookout shirt. So, that’s the most food I’ve ever ate.

Q: What do you consider one of your greatest achievements?

A: Yeah, I would think my greatest achievement would be eating the Cookout, because everyone was doubting me, and I actually accomplished it. It took me a lot longer that I thought, but sometimes you have to overcome obstacles in your life, and when people doubt you, it feels good to come back and prove them wrong.

Q: What is the nicest thing anyone has said to you?

A: I think the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me was that I’m the best Madden player they’ve ever played before, because I put in a lot of practice to play Madden. I’ve won tournaments at malls. Well, one tournament at a mall, and I didn’t win anything. I think that’s the best compliment I’ve got because I take pride in my Madden game. I think sometimes, I study more Madden than I do for my own schoolwork, which I don’t think my mom would want to hear, but yeah, that’s what I would say.

When people doubt you, it feels good to come back and prove them wrong.

Q: What is the worst thing anyone has said to you?

A: One time, someone called me fat. I think that’s the worst thing someone’s ever said to me. I’m not fat. It’s- it’s barriers, for my muscle. It helps me eat more, so when people doubt what I can eat, I can prove them wrong. So yeah, next time someone calls me fat, I might just punch them, because that’s not nice to say.

I’ve won tournaments at malls. Well, one tournament at a mall, and I didn’t win anything.

Q: Do you believe in ghosts? If so, have you ever had an experience with one?

A: I honestly do believe in ghosts. People that don’t believe in ghosts obviously just have never encountered one or tried to summon one. Last year during the hurricane, I was in West Campus, and all the lights were off, and I was with my friend Andre, and we were walking down the hallway, and we saw a shadow, and we thought it was just one of the people in West Campus, but when we went over to, like, look at it, nobody was there. Like, there was not a single person. And also, in my room, there was like, we had a bible, and the bible was open and there was a cross on top, and it was just… So, I definitely believe in ghosts.

Q: If you could change one thing about Georgia College, what would it be?

A: If I could change one thing, it would honestly be, um, probably the parking. They need to realize that they’re students here who need to learn, and they need to park and go to class. But when you have fifty parking spots in front campus, and you get a ticket if you stay there for two hours, when most of your classes, back to back, are longer than two hours, not every student can afford to pay thirty fucking dollars a ticket. I got nine tickets last year, so Georgia College needs to work on their parking. Let students park wherever we want, we pay thousands of dollars a year to go here. So, Georgia College parking, if you’re listening to this, step your shit up, and let us park in more places.
