Preface: In the early 2000s, I corresponded with Tim Buckley’s long-time lead guitarist and best friend, Lee Underwood. On Christmas Day of 2002, Lee was kind enough to take the time to inscribe my cherished copy of his book A Blue Melody (pictured below). I will always treasure Lee’s gentle nature, incredible spirit, poetry, music, and kind words for the rest of my life. Thank you, Lee. This is dedicated to you and Tim.

Tim Buckley: Lost and Found

You may know the story of Jimi Hendrix getting booed as The Monkees’ opening act. Pairing the psychedelic rocker with the teen pop idols was a bizarre choice. But this wouldn’t be the last time the Monkees introduced someone not yet famous to the mainstream.

On March 25th, 1968, Tim Buckley made his only prime-time nationally televised appearance (to my knowledge) on season two, episode 26 of The Monkees TV series.
