.No need for any test anxiety here. From Mayoral Cats to Ocean Reefs— Can you get a perfect score?

Note: Not to be Capt. Obvious, but the answers and their explanations are below under the “Answers Below” image. In other words, no spoilers as you read through…

1. Tallest Mountain on Earth: Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth.

2. Bones: Half of your bones are in your hands and feet.

3. Birds Flying Upside Down: Can birds not fly upside down? What’s your guess?

4. Surface Area of Human Skin: The average human body has 20 square feet of skin.

5. Turning Dead Bodies into Ocean Reefs: That intro says it all. So, is it true or false?

  1. Mt. Everest is the Tallest Mountain on Earth: False! It’s a common misconception that Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth. However, this statement is actually False. When measured from base to summit, the true champ goes to Mauna Kea in Hawaii. At over 30,000 feet, it beats out of Mount Everest’s 29,032 feet (8849 meters) height. But there’s a fascinating twist — most of Mauna Kea is submerged underwater, with only a portion of its massive peak visible above sea level.
  2. Bones: True! The statement that half of your bones are in your hands and feet is indeed True! Our skeletal system comprises 206 bones, and a significant portion is concentrated in the hands and feet. One-quarter of the bones in our body can be found in our feet alone. Additionally, around 1/10th of our bones contribute to the structure of our skull.
  3. Birds Flying Upside Down: False. While it’s commonly believed that birds cannot fly upside down, this statement is actually False. Hummingbirds are among the exceptions with their unique wing structure and agility. They have the remarkable ability to fly upside down and even backward. This impressive flight capability sets them apart from many other bird species.
  4. On Average, humans are covered with 20 sq. ft. of skin: True. Human skin is the body’s largest organ and is vital in protecting us from the environment. Our skin weighs approximately six pounds and covers an area roughly equivalent to the size of a small room.
  5. Dead Bodies Can Be Turned Into Ocean Reefs: is True! Through a process that involves mixing cremated remains with concrete, a unique structure known as a “reef ball” can be created. These reef balls serve as artificial reefs in the ocean, providing a habitat for marine life and contributing to ecosystem conservation efforts.

Let me know your score!

BONUS QUESTION!

6. A Cat as Mayor: Yep! True! And it warms my heart. In an amusing and unusual turn of events, the statement that a cat served as the mayor of a town is indeed TRUE. In 1997, Stubbs the Cat was elected as the honorary mayor of Talkeetna, a small village in Alaska. Stubbs, known for his charismatic feline presence, captured the hearts of the town’s residents during his tenure.

If you enjoyed this, let me know, and I’ll compile some more. I had fun putting this together. Just a bit of fun.

As always, thanks for reading!
