Hi Raúl,
Good to hear from you. Thats a great question. I agree, it’s a bit tricky.
Rescover has recently shifted to more of a hobby project, so the decision was easier for me as I find myself in a position where I can more easily cut myself off from my smartphone.
That said, I still think it can be done and I may well have done it regardless of Rescover’s position.
My suggestion would be to question how much you need to constant connection.
Is it possible you could use your iphone as more of a development device, and remove all social and personal stuff from it? So it kinda becomes a development / research device? It would have no number connected to it and when you’re finished your work, it goes in your drawer so it doesn’t distract you in your free time? And the feature-phone is what you have as your number connected device?
That way you still get to use the smartphone and use whatever apps you want to stay on top of development stuff, but you separate out your personal use?
It doesn’t cost much to test it out as feature phones are so cheap.
Alternatively you might get on ok with some of the other tactics I tried that didn’t work as well for me. removing social apps, notifications, disabling safari etc.
Also, be careful you don’t over-estimate how much you need to be connected / stay abreast of what’s going on. You can kinda get lost in that stuff too much sometimes.
