His banner over us is love.

But this love didn’t come without a price.

Couldn’t be paid in any currencies found in the human world banks.

It took getting a body laid in a tomb that no man has ever used.

The price was bloody, even Mary had to tear.

Watching her first son hang on a cross,

She was at a crossroads remembering the prophecies of the old prophet on the day he was born.

‘For a sword would pierce through your soul to reveal the intents in the hearts of men’.

And yes, she had just seen it all.

Here are their intents. The heart of man desperately vile and wicked even you can’t know it.

But God, He so loved the world that He gave.

The Son, He so loved the world that He came.

But the world, so filled with hate that all they do is take, and take, and take, and take.

Selfish and brute, they are untrue, so they’re fake.

‘Crucify him, crucify him’ they raved.

Spare the sinner, annihilate the innocent, they raged.

But love was quiet, gently, softly, silently, whispering “forgive them, for they know not what they do”.

Could this be love? Could this be you, my love?

It may not have as many goosebumps, oh maybe the nails pierced them all.

It had no butterflies, the flowers were already crushed by the scourge.

And his face wasn’t as radiant and handsome, instead, there was a crown of thorn on his head

Could this ever be the face of my lover, I would rather deny him as a friend — Peter tried to save his skin, because the skin of His master had been pierced by a spear.

But love still restored him. Peter thought the master could not be captured. He never pictured any day whereby mighty Jesus could be tortured. He had envisaged Jesus ruling Jerusalem in the future and then he as the right man general but that dream just got punctured.

But the disciple whom Jesus loved was there till the very end.

Looking up to His master, a lot must have ran through his head.

Mother son joining, the master set the disciple on a journey.

Of caring for the master’s mommy, he now has to be a good son, Johnny.

But this love, this love.

Kind, patient, selfless, pure, unwavering, undaunting.

This love is a banner.

It envelopes us, keeping us warm and cozy, this love is a cloak.

However, we are held accountable for this love, held responsible by this love, so it rests upon our shoulders, it’s impacts felt within our bodies.

For we are the temple of the Holy Ghost.

He is not just any guest, but we are His host.

He hopes to always find us at our duty posts.

Loving others with the same tenacity and passion with which we have been loved.

For no greater love has any man than this, that he lays down his life for his friend.

But Jesus, while we were yet sinners died. How were you willing to die for your enemy?

What could have ever sponsored such a selfless act?
