Suck It Up Buttercup

Ok, so how many of us are guilty of having a morning mishap ruin our entire day? Show of hands please. Come on, you know you have. I have. You know how it goes, the alarm doesn’t go off, there is no hot water for the shower and what is the first thing you say to yourself? “It’s going to be ONE of THOSE days”.

Instead of shrugging it off and telling yourself that somewhere in there, there really is something positive about it, you go through the day expecting the worst. Then what? Each time something happens opposite of how you would prefer it happen you think to yourself or say out loud, “I knew when the day started it was going to be one of THOSE days.”

Congratulations! From early that morning, you manifested this horrible day you are convinced you are having. You opened up the universe to invite in all the negative energy it could send your way.

Let me tell you a little story. One morning I was sitting at a red light. There was one car in front of me. The light changed and they did not move. I started getting annoyed. I almost beeped at them. Then, I caught myself and thought, why should I let this tiny little occurance make my energy negative, after all, it was a bright sunny day. The car finally started going and a car from the other street ran their red light, never even slowing down and plowed into the tail of the car in front of me. What is the lesson here? Had I beeped at this person it would have been me who got hit. The couple seconds of patience I had and telling myself it was fine that I had to wait saved me from being in the accident.

Sometimes you have to think, perhaps that alarm not going off saved you from such an incident. I am not trying to sugar coat life. Lord knows I am not skipping through life with a Pollyanna attitude, but I choose for the most part not to stay in a negative energy space for too long. I know that low vibration attracts low vibration.

Have you ever been at the water cooler at a job. Everyone is standing around complaining about the boss, complaining about the company, complaining about this and that. What happens when you go back to your desk? Not very motivated are you? Not very productive are you?

When I was in high school I worked in the local bagel deli. Mornings were always the toughest, it was non stop customers for a couple hours straight. One of the regular customers one day said to me that I always made him feel good. He said that no matter how rude people could get or how busy I was, I was always smiling. He asked me why? I told him it was simple. That was where I chose to work, if I could not work with a smile on my face then I shouldn’t be working there. My vibration rose his vibration and everyone standing around us. Then I got a few tips. Go me!

There is always a choice to how you will feel. You don’t always have a choice to what happens to you, but the choice is there to how you will react. Not everything makes sense on the surface. Compose yourself quick when the not-so-great things happen. Accept that maybe there is a higher reason and make room for positive energy. That higher energy will attract more high energy. That is where life becomes worth living.
