Nothing but a Hurricane could stop us now!
It may have seemed like a quiet week, but it has been a flurry of activity at the Smith household.
We are still in the appeal process with Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield. I decided to call them out by name in the same way Harry Potter chooses to say “Voldemort”. As Professor D once told Harry, “Fear of a name increases fear of the thing itself.” And, I am not afraid of you, Regence. In fact, you give me some time and I will be beat your bureaucratic ass. YOU should be afraid of my impending wrath.
This fight is far from over.
For now, we have been hitting the phones. This week we were in contact with MD Anderson in the hopes they would give us a cost estimate for treatment. They came through today and let me tell you, it ain’t chump change. But, we strongly believe that this is the best medical option to beat this cancer and keep it from coming back. So, we will move forward. Our plan is to self fund while we continue our battle with Regence. Progress is our priority and no dollar amount could keep us from the best possible treatment. Now all we have to do is pack our bags and head to Houston, right?!?!?!
Wrong!!!!
Never did I factor in a Hurricane into our cancer treatment plan. As you may know, MD Anderson is located in Houston, TX. The poor folks in Houston are about to be pummeled by Hurricane Harvey. We will sit tight and wait for this bad boy to pass. Depending on doctor availability and acceptance of Justin’s case, we hope to make our way out to Houston in a couple of weeks.
