Sharon- My Zambian Mama :)

Sharon, my Zambian Mama who is absolutely amazing, makes us lunch every day for about 100 KWA per month (roughly $13/month). Every day she makes Nshima, which is a dough-like scoop of maize (their staple food) made into a flour and mixed with water. I have learned that nshima is more than a food. It is a lifestyle. Zambians eat nshima for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You eat it with your right hand by grabbing it and making it into a ball, and then dipping it in whatever else is on your plate — meat, chicken, fish, vegetables, and/or sauce. Its pretty good! Our lunch today was nshima, fish, chicken, and vegetable.. it was very interesting, but good!

Nshima, Chicken, Fish, and Vegitables. A traditional Zambian Meal.
