So, you guys re-redesigned your logo to look almost exactly like the old logo? Wonder how much all of this cost, LOL. FWIW, your previous redesign was fucking ridiculous. A neon outline of a 3D shape? LOL. Sooo… I guess even though this is a gigantic step back it’s a step in the right direction? Which is: readable and timeless. Y’know like any other notable publication platform, as opposed to trying to look like some sort of interactive design firm or some shiz.

The logotype font looks kind of like something that would be found large overlaid in white on a grainy beauty magazine photo rather than a stately news publication, and the thinness of the M and the E don’t match the rest of the type, making it a taaaad lopsided, but whatever. It’s better than the green mess.

Your app icon is an interesting departure, though I dunno if it differentiates you from other publications platforms. It looks kind of like a black and white version of apple news. Maybe that’s what you wanted? Hell, I keep them in the same folder on my phone. In any case, it took me a minute to find on my phone, just is still out on my emotional response to it though.

Congrats on the hours and hours of sleep and hair loss for your poor designers. Someone owes them some long term vacation time. FFS.

I usually hate change, but thanks for coming back to Earth.

Just to remind everyone of the original mess that was the green redesign: https://blog.medium.com/the-story-behind-medium-s-new-logo-4cd3e143dfcf
