How Can We Achieve Age Diversity in Silicon Valley?
Steven Levy

“what is the average age of your product team? Do any/a lot of your employees have children?” is one of the first questions I asked at my most recent job interview for a tech start up in SF. I’m 29. The interviewer, single and slightly older than me, seemed surprised and also relieved at the question. Luckily the answer was “we have a large handful of people in their late 30’s and early 40's”, which was true, despite this group still being in the minority.
It was the best way to get a real read on who the people I would be working with are, what their career and life priorities are.
