Keep Calm and Sparkle On: Flower Power!

Today I was reminded about the power of flowers. I had experienced several ‘shut in’ days in a row (work-bound and home-bound) and I think that lack of sunshine was driving me a little stir crazy. Yesterday in particular was a very lack lustre day where I had zero energy, little motivation, low self worth and a bad case of the shut in blues.

This morning could have been the start of another shut in day (it is a holiday here so I had the freedom to shape the day any way that I wished). Instead I thought of one of my mother’s favourite places, Barney Point Beach, and decided to go for a walk.

The sea breeze and the roar of the waves were wonderful but I was particularly charmed by the flowers I found growing upon the beach near the rocks and sand. These flowers may not seem like much but to find such beauty in such an unexpected place cheered me up and really made my day.

When I look at flowers I feel calm instantly. It astounds me that there are so many different flowers in this world and each of them are beautiful in their own unique way. I highly recommend anybody suffering from the shut in blues to take some time out to smell the flowers.

I am signing off this post with some photographs taken at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers from last year. I hope that you look at them and smile.

Remember, keep calm and sparkle on!
