I’ve heard the “ideas are easy” mantra for a LONG time. I wanted to find out for myself whether this was true, so I attended dozens of startup meetings in and around Portland, and, well, I’d have to disagree. Or, I should say that average ideas, or bad ideas *are* easy, but good ones are not. If you don’t have the technical chops to basically do it yourself, you’ll be confronted by those with that do have the requisite skills who either have a comfy life working at a soulless corporation, or have their own bad idea which they prefer over your good one. Anyone with any brains should by now be questioning this worn out cliche about the worthlessness of ideas.
