I hope you’ve all been having a great week.
This is something I’m going to be sharing with you each week, on a Sunday.
What I’m up to, on what motivates me, and things I am enjoying,
I hope you enjoy
Here’s your weekly dose of “Weekly 5.”
In case you’ve missed it –
Introducing Context Cards on Snapchat.
More & more Snapchat are turning themselves into a full blown media advertising network.
With these Context cards, you can now see where a person is, as in a coffee shop, store, church, national park, you name it, just swipe up and add it in.
In Snapchat’s words –
“Context Cards, Snaps have become the visual starting point for learning more about the world, empowering our community to get more information about anything that catches their eye”.
They’ve partnered with a few companies to provide information about the places and business people are at, like “Trip Adviser”, to read reviews, or call an Uber cab or see what time a bar opens till. Snapchat are thinking of future progress…
I think this is really smart as it give them more advertising power without being too much in people’s faces. No ads, just locations, swipe up and see the Information on that particular place. How they will monetize on this, I do not know, but for now, it doesn’t matter, small steps, big leaps…
Here we “Go”, Facebook are coming out with a more affordable VR headset called “Oculus Go”. This is one that we can all afford to get with a price starting at $199 and ready to ship in early 2018. Up to now if you wanted to get an Oculus Rift, it could could you anything from $1,500 up to $3,000, which was only affordable for people earning the money to pay that kind of money or business and companies testing it for their business model.
VR is coming, maybe not as fast as mobile technology has, but it’s still coming and it’s going to change the world we live in, just like mobile did.
On Tuesday 26th of September, Twitter wrote on their blog that they were testing 260 characters in their tweets. At the moment we all have a 140 character limit which has left some of us edit and cram down tweets, sometimes missing the importance of a word.
Some other languages don’t have this problem, like Japanese, where they and use one character to express many meanings, meaning they can explain more in 140 characters.
They are testing 260 Characters for English and a few other languages, but they say that if they do expand on the character limit, it will not be available for Japanese, Korean or Chinese as they can have double meanings for their characters and can fit enough in at 140.
What I’m doing at the moment –
I was up in Cobh, Cork recently with my wife.
You might have heard of this town, as it was the last place the Titanic left from before its horrific end in 1912.
Anyway, we were in a small coffee shop when my wife drew my attention toward two woman, which were talking about websites & Online business.
Naturally, I stopped what I was reading, and started listening…
One of the woman seemed to be a web-designer, while the other one wanted to know from her, where to start, on creating a new Website and how to bring peoples attention toward it.
From what I overheard, the web-designer made things sound so complicated, which my wife said to me before I said it to her.
But of the complicated conversation she was having, she could have made it so simple.
I broke it into four bullet points.
The way the web-designer was talking to the other woman, she said she knows of two web designers ($,$$$, costly), and content creators that could help her build her website from scratch, and from what I could gather was, the other woman wanted to create a local community website.
Really, a small job, but the web-developer was making it more complicated and more expensive than it should be.
For one, if I was speaking to the woman, I’d tell her to start building on the three C’s, content, consistency & community.
First of all, creating content for a local area is not that hard, like the points I spoke of before she could “ask locals questions, create content from it and show it via Facebook pages or groups, targeting the local area & beyond, bringing people back to her website, where she could capture their emails via a Lead Magnet.
Building a website, is not that hard, WordPress have made things super easy for people to build on, and even if she didn’t know how to use it, she could learn how, in less than 5 hours from YouTube.
Content shared by asking locals questions and answering them, then could be posted via WordPress & shared to her page or group.
This is a simple process, if you’re only starting out, there is no need to pay extortionate amounts of money to build a website, take the time to build a community, learn how to create a website with WordPress by learning from YouTube, and share your content to a community that you’ve gathered on a social network like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram…
A tip or advice from an Influencer -
This weeks advice comes from “Simon Mitchell, of Network Marketing Mastery.”
“Identity your tribe”.
What he means here is, that when you are building your influence, growing your business, you need to connect with the few people that get it.
Know what your talking about and connect with the five, twenty, one hundred people, whatever it is, that understand and who are and what you do.
Having these people knowing and understanding what you do and what you’re sharing will guarantee you a six figure business if you do the right things.
Great businesses are predicated on word of mouth, and by identifying with your tribe, you and your business will grow substantially.

Jordon Mortimer: Who’s up late working on their biz? What are you working on?

Quote I’m pondering –
“The only person that can better yourself, is yourself! – Daniel Mac Sweeney
I truly believe that the only person that can make you a better person, is yourself.
Stop the complaining , stop the doubt, and stop the negative thoughts.
Focus on what your good at and what’s working, be a believer in yourself and you will always win, even when you fail…
