This you-are-not-your-thoughts method reminds me strongly of the whole “Three Principles” approach originated by Sydney Banks and popularized by Michael Neill (“The Inside-Out Revolution”), George Pransky, Amy Johnson, Garrett Kramer, and others. It does seem like a healthy way to de-couple from anxious, depressive, or ruminating thought processes.
