Game of Thrones Episode 2 of season seven was ridiculous in its awesomeness, but it was — SPOILER ALERT- kind of disturbing in the end. The female Sand fighters got wrecked, and an attempt to become queen ended in terrible disaster. Eueon Greyjoy is an absolute terror, and yes, he went there. There was raping again on the show.

What does one think? Well, sometimes women lose fights. It seems like the Martells are arrogant, long-winded punching bags at this moment. Theon Greyjoy ran away from a battle with the unstoppable Eueon that he was never going to win. It was a disturbing sight, considering that he went through hell and recovered a little. He still ran away. Ramsay’s spirit lingers on the show.

The problem with Danaerys Targaryen is that she is absolutely wonderful at everything now. She’s kind, compassionate, and vicious to her enemies. She and Jon Snow have become such powerhouses that the show needs to rock their worlds some. They can’t have an easy victory — that would cheapen the story that has happened thus far.

The image of the preview — whether it be a dream or not — of Danaerys on the Iron Throne meeting Jon Snow is an intriguing one. I think that the show highlights all the worst of humanity — the raping, the murdering, the torture, all in the name of who runs the kingdom. Sunday’s episode was no exception.

Why don’t I write like that? Why don’t I have that brutality and honesty in my writing? Why don’t others? Others seem to follow a Hollywood style and fakery. There is something authentic about Game of Thrones that a manufactured script with a beginning, a middle, and an end can’t touch. I think that people need to write with more authenticity and honesty and with less traditional stories. I think that the writing teaching that you get — plot, act one, act two, rising tension, twist, end — isn’t effective anymore. In fact, it never was. Game of Thrones tells such a story because this is how fucked up life is. This is how fucked up people act towards each other. It’s brilliant because it feels more real than someone saving the world from certain destruction with three seconds left.

I really wanted more out of the Sand Snakes. They really got wrecked in this episode. It seemed disturbing that only Brienne of Tarth is an effective female fighter on the show. I think that the central point of the scene was that Eueon Greyjoy is a stud. He is. He is an absolute beast who wrecked the Sand Snakes in combat. That is what happened. Sometimes, women get abused. Sometimes, they lose fights and get raped, in fiction or in real life.

Life sucks, huh?

Thanks, and take care, friends.
