Control: The Streak

I am on a streak! I have bucked the odds and done something consistently that I didn’t think that I could do.

I have managed it, folks. That’s right. I, Dalton Lewis, the author of My Little Paradise, have lost five — five — games of Warhammer 40k in a row. If that’s not an accomplishment I don’t know what is.

I mean, come on. People win tournaments all the time. That’s normal. They do well; they succeed, they work hard, they make it in life, and people compliment them at dinner parties. I, however, have managed to suck the likes of which have rarely been seen.

I have lost to a number of people. I lost to a store employee, someone I had never met, an Adepticon team champion, someone with huge mechs, and a union worker friend with a ridiculous tau list. I have lost in tournament, pick up games, and in games with friends.

Should I get an award? I think so. I need an award. People like Terry would freak out. Only the winners should get awards, he says. People shouldn’t get awards for participating. I agree with him, but this is a special case. Five games!

The new paranoia is that someone will steal my stories and my credit. This is a common fear among writers. In this case, this is a blog about my real life. I don’t think it would be easy to copy.

Why do we worry? I worry about real life all the time. I worry about my weight, my career, and other concerns. I worry about misunderstandings during alien invasions, people getting framed for sex offenses, and even the sex offenses themselves not getting solved. I worry.

Why? I don’t know. Perhaps I worry because the world is a terrible and frightening place where anyone can die at any moment.

Thanks, and take care, friends.
