Control: Tournament Results 8/26
I played in a tournament with eight players today. I had to ride south to Highland Park to get a ride to Draxtar Games, southwest of us. We stopped for donuts along the way and took the expressway to I-88 and took that west until we made it there. Game one I played against Sisters of Battle, a male player with a good list. I attacked his leader, Celestine, with a daemon prince and a maulerfiend, two of my best units. She wrecked both of them. I killed some enemies with my havocs but not enough. I played poorly and didn’t think my list out very carefully. I didn’t have enough.
Game one: loss.
We ate at Quizno’s for lunch. I had southwest chipotle chicken. Phillip had the spicy sandwich with extra toppings to make it spicier. Game two was against the ringer, the person who was there to make sure we had an even number of people. He played orcs. I did okay by destroying his war machines and then fighting with my best melee units against him. He had to leave after an hour, which cut the game short. I won on kill points and secondaries, having killed his warlord with a maulerfiend.
Game two: win.
Game three was a disaster. I set up aggressively and near my opponent, thinking that I could do damage quickly. I couldn’t; my opponent went first and simply had way more shots than I did. He played primaris marines and had a tank with thirty or so shots, a dreadnought with at least ten shots, and aggressors with half a dozen shots apiece. He blew me off the table quickly.
Game three: loss.
I had fun but played a poor list. Alpha Legion are okay but this list suffered some problems. The marines I had were way too easy to kill. The maulerfiends got wrecked. The terminators were okay but I attacked the wrong opponent with them. I attacked a toughness nine tank and predictably did nothing. My plague marines didn’t do any damage to get back their cost. I enjoyed going and hanging out with Phillip, who won the tournament. I was proud of him. He has won a number of events recently. Way to go.
Thanks, and take care, friends.
