Andela ALC2017… We made it!!!
Alas! The code base vanished right before my eyes. My toil and sweat had evaporated into thin air, just barely four hours to the deadline, all because of a git error. I was about to lose an opportunity to be part of an Andela-Udacity organized Scholarship.
“No, not today”, I encouraged myself. With just a few hours to submission, I rewrote the whole project and submitted before the deadline.
Eventually, I got accepted and that was the beginning of my journey as a beneficiary of Andela’s Android Learning Community (ALC) — Intermediate Track supported by Google.
I wasn’t new to Android Development but was looking for an avenue to improve as I had plateaued and was experiencing slow progressive growth. The program gave me an opportunity to revamp my skills and guided me towards best practices in building world class apps.
Concepts like Testing, utilising Content providers were some of the grey areas which were straightened out for me during the course.
3 projects, 1 exam project and an exit interview later, I was confirmed as a Google Certified Associate Android Developer

In all I say thank to you to GOD (wish He had a handle 😉), Andela Nigeria, Udacity and Google for creating such an avenue to elevate the skills of Android Developers like me.
Moreover, I am grateful to the Chimdindu Aneke, Awosupin Olalere Solomon and other facilitators for all concerted efforts towards making the programme a success.
Hopefully, this Andela ALC Series is one that is here to stay 🙂.
