New York (October 19th, 2022) — Indie Filmmaker and Producer Soukaina Alaoui El Hassani announced today the screening of her upcoming drama short “FIX” at the New York Short Film Festival taking place November 17th, 2022 at Cinema Village in the heart of the East Village in New York City. Written by Vincent Van der Velde and Directed by Madeline “Madge” Conway, the film lifts you into the euphoric familiar, yet toxic love.

“FIX” is a fictional exploration of toxicity in relationships. It’s an insight into one of the most basic human needs: validation. When Thomas spots an old flame at a bar, they reconnect in unexpected ways and relive the tumultuousness of their relationship. The film is a personal yet universal story.

The film also stars Destry Bell, John Beltre, Samuel Wentzel, and Addison Thompson. Helmed by Executive Producer, Producer, and Assistant Director Soukaina Alaoui El Hassani, the film boasts a hard-working and passionate crew consisting of Taha Aziz as Director of Photography, Katie Colwell as 1st AC, Best Boy, and Editor, with Matt Liang as 2nd AC and Gaffer, Larissa Hanna as Colorist, and Juan Nicolas Gonzales as Sound Editor.

“FIX” boasts an original score authored by Margaux Van der Velde, Thomas Van der Velde and Joes Brands and produced by Joes Brands at SputnikStudio in Belgium.

“FIX” is a film about all of us,” says Alaoui El Hassani. “It’s about those people that we couldn’t get out of our system. And it’s about that person that knows your essence but brings out the ugly parts of you. Stay tuned for a story about you and me.”

With “FIX,” Director Madge and Director of Photography Taha Aziz set out to push the boundaries of the film by bringing in avant-garde theatrical elements. Using her theater background, Madge elevated the film to showcase a poignant portrait of the toxic human disposition.

“How do you dance with a substance that infiltrates your entire nervous system and bloodstream from outside of you,” asks Madge. “ FIX is a story about toxicity, addiction, attachment, and knowing better.”

“FIX” brought together a melting pot of individuals, proving that this kind of experience transcends borders. Join “FIX” on its festival journey by tuning into the “FIX” Instagram or Facebook page.
