Career pursuits and financial well-being is seen as happiness in the future — I must say that I’ve met a few University students this year who have switched courses midway through. Furthermore, a 9 to 5 job is far from what will fulfill everyone’s drive and ambition and these students found this out before it was too late.

Of course, most people thought they were nuts but at least they were so in touch with their inner-selves that mustering the courage to make this change was hardly a difficult decision. That is not to say, however, that we must all throw away careers and years of studies in the name of ambling aimlessly through life. Surely, this nonchalant attitude will bemirch your reputation as a go-getter and “intelligent” person. But what good is a depressed and emotionally unstable professional?

I guess what I’m saying is: don’t regret things never lived but rather know who you are now and choose your path today! Tread the path to your IKIGAI not complacency. What other alternative is there?
