Top 3 Podcasts for Designers

My favorite 3 weekly inspiring podcasts focused on designers' past experiences and tips on how to grow your leadership skills.

Just a subtle behavior deviation.

I’ve always been a music enthusiast and every time I leave home I’m always carrying with me some earphones (not high-level sound but very practical) since I’m mostly listening to music on the go. But, this year when Spotify released the yearly charts with my personal music highlights I’ve noticed a big change in there. I was, surprisingly, listening to way less music compared to last year. At first, I was confused because I knew my behavior didn’t change but then the revelation came:

I was still listening about the same amount of time, but now my ears were splitting their attention towards music and podcasts.

And that brings me to the topic of this post. I’d like to share with you my Top 3 Podcasts for designers:

1. Design Matters

Design Matters is one of the world’s very first podcasts and has been around for nearly 15 years. The show is mostly about awesome interviews with awesome people.

Hosted by Debbie Millman, the author of six books, artist, curator, and designer, she is also the President Emeritus of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and chair and co-founder of the Masters in Branding Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

Personal episode highlights:

2. Experience Design w/ Tony Daussat

Experience Design is a show about how design impacts our lives mostly through interviews with professionals in design, leadership, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

The best and the worst part of the show is that it usually runs along 25 min (a short one) a perfect fit for a quick commute but not long enough for the amazing stories that usually pop up there.

The show is hosted by Tony Daussat, a UX Coach & Design Strategist.

Personal episode highlights:

3. The Crazy One Podcast

The Crazy One is a 2020 Webby Awards Honoree podcast about real experiences and insights on how to be more creative, become a better leader, create more innovative work, build better relationships with your clients, grow a stronger career, and much more.

The content is mostly things the host learned along the way leading global in-house and agency creative teams and working with some of the world’s most innovative companies like Apple, Google, Nike, Airbnb, Amazon, Disney and more.

Hosted by Stephen Gates, currently the Head Design Evangelist at InVision, an international keynote speaker and design leader.
