“Death is so final, whereas Life is full of Possibilities”. -Tyrion

Almost every one of you had listen about a saying that, “Where there’s a Will, there’s a way”. It is a saying celebrating human will power. This proverb means that if we are determined to do something, we will get it done. This will be the case even if it is challenging, difficult, or seemingly impossible.

This is the case which we faced a few days earlier. Did you know about Edhi foundation? Of course you do. After the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi, the funds of Edhi foundation has started declining. Few weeks earlier Faisal Edhi, son of Abdul Sattar Edhi aired an interview in which he explained that how funds of Edhi Foundation has started declining after the death of Abdul Sattar Edhi. In response to his appeal, I with my other fellows including Samrina Sabir, Waleed Bin Obaid, Ibtesam Naveed, Abdul Rehman, and Daniyal Hafeez decided to raise funds for Edhi Foundation. We drafted all our plans with few arrangements.

We were thinking that this activity is, as much easy as chewing a bubble. But it was just our thinking, reality was a bit different. It was very difficult to take permission from management of our University Department for fund raising. We were not allowed to make announcements in the classrooms. We were supposed to take permission from our Principal before doing any fund-raising activity. Principal is not always at his office and when he came he just allowed us to set-up a fund-raising desk and that too after Eid Holidays. We were not having enough time for that.

But we don’t give up. We started finding solution for this issue. All members presented their ideas but, the idea of Samrina Sabir & Daniyal Hafeez got weightage. They told us to meet individually, with each Class Representatives and agree them for fund raising. We did the same. First of all we make them aware of our permission problem. And then we requested them to hold the class for few minutes after the teacher leave the class. As we were unable to make announcement for funds raising in the presence of teacher. This solution really worked and this ended up in a good collection.

Another suggestion was to reach out students individually outside the classes. So, we implemented the plan and reached the students individually or in their groups. The problem we faced here was our negative thoughts that ‘’These people are not going to give a single penny’’ before even reaching them and carrying the same thought we don’t engage with them or even if we engaged this negative thought prove out to be giving us negative results. So, for this we planned to reach out every person with positive thinking and to take their reactions positively. This really helped us and after this we were boosted up and engaged with more potential.

Similarly, we have three idea for Edhi Foundation to raise their funds again to required level. First they can contact with corporate business. Each company has to fulfill his Corporate Social Responsibility, and via strong reasons they can ask for donations under corporate social responsibility.

Second idea is that they can shoot different videos depicting the conditions of Edhi foundation. And how shortage of funds is causing bad impacts on the livings of destitute which belongs to the Edhi foundation.

Third they can urge any celebrity which has strong influence on Pakistani people and as well on nationals of other countries. Like Shahid Afridi, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Christiano Ronaldo. These Personalities are contributing greatly toward the societies. Though in one and another way they are also running their on NGO’s. Like Afridi is running Shahid Afridi Foundation. And they can ask them if they are willing to do a favor. Otherwise they can find many other celebrities to conduct concerts for raising funds for Edhi Foundation.
