100 Days of Code: Day 7

Another late night for me tonight, but it’s all worth is since my portfolio page has passed all of it’s FreeCodeCamp tests! Yay!
Now all I have to do is add in my information for my completed projects and I can turn this sucker in! Woohoo! I could do a dance right now but I’m too tired and I’ll probably end up hurting myself.
Today’s coding sessions (yes I had several today) were rough! Ends up the layout I came up with last night didn’t fulfill the project requirements, so I had to basically scrap what I had and start over again.
The thing that tripped me up the most today was getting the top part of the portfolio to fit the full viewport height for any device. I could get the height to work, but I couldn’t get my content to line up correctly. Then I could get the content to line up correctly, only to have my viewport area not showing as full height. It was a mess and caused a great amount of frustration for me today.
I really hate media queries. I understand why we have them and why they’re needed, but I REALLY can’t stand media queries! It feels like every part of my project that ended up broken was due to a media query setting. And of course if you change one thing there, 57 other things end up broken. So yeah…that was me today.
But I finally have it done! I’ll get screenshots of my work and link up my projects and social media tomorrow. I’m on the fence about getting my jump links to line up correctly, but I’m afraid to change anything in fear of it breaking something else in the long run.
But the hard part is over and I can go to bed. Tomorrow will be the final stretch and I can’t wait to have everything finished. So so many small wins adding up to the finale. Here’s the final version of my portfolio — I have placeholder images from Placekitten for my projects but that will change tomorrow. ^_^
