You can’t rationalize someone out of a belief they didn’t rationalize themselves into in the first place.

So, because you felt you couldn’t persuade her using rational critiques to drop her beliefs and adhere to your own, clearly the only other option is to then demean her for being just as faithful to her own opinions as you are to yours? That makes sense.

Religionists are holding back the development of the human race.

It’s important to point out that there is a difference between “religion” and “faith.” Religion has, without a doubt, done more than its fair share of inflicting pain and dealing out unimaginable hardships like candy, all without the slightest bit of remorse. I’m a gay woman from Texas; rest assured I know this first-hand. Westernized religion in particular has morphed into little more than a toxic cult, and its influence is becoming increasingly intertwined with politics in a way that has me truly dreading the future of this country.

The way this toxicity has affected her personally is what this entire article is about; it’s literally about how she has rejected the harmful “religious” aspect, and has chosen to focus on her “faith” instead.

This is admirable, and subsequently makes her the antithesis of the holier-than-thou “religionists” you speak against.
