Living with Unleash 2017 Talent Lab Memories
By Mohammed Danjuma .H, Nigeria- FOOD (Team22)
If we must achieve SDGs and make it truly impactful, initiatives such as unleash talent lab must be implemented and sustained. When I applied for the co-creation talent in April, 2017, I never could imagine the impact this would have on my life and the choice of Denmark as the host country was just perfect. This gave me an opportunity to learn, share and meet really amazing talent from 129 countries put together in one country to create solutions towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals, this is just to think out of the box great ideas. When Civicus International Nominated me, I did not know what to expect, I was going to go there learn from diverse population especially their culture and create solutions, but it turn out to be one of the best experiences of my life.
Seven themes were selected, these are Food, Water, Urban Sustainability, Energy, Sustainable Consumption and Production, ICT & Education and Health, the first two days of the program was spent on connecting and getting to know each other by the talents, visiting other great companies and partners companies within Denmark. This was an amazing experience for me getting to meet talent from America to Asia, Middles East, Africa and every other part of the world.
One source of inspiration and game changer for me was the folk high schools that hosted different talents across Denmark, the schools has an amazing history and for me it is about connecting your inner self to achieve peace around you and around the world. Waking in the morning after breakfast to the assemble and the inspiring songs was a beautiful feeling, met with great people at my folk high school in Brenderup, these guys are just wonderful. The facilitators and experts were also great and very support in creating our idea. Every talent divided into nine groups came up with amazing solutions that could solve not only hunger and poverty problems, but also allowing for sustainable consumption and production. My team was call team LOOP with amazing people from myself(Mohammed Danjuma, H, Nigeria) to Christoffer Bloch (Denmark), Richard Feuerstein (Brazil), Ritter Guimapi (Cameroon), Noam Rosiansky (Israel) and Emmy Moore (USA) these people are for me the most amazing people I ever worked with. We worked on food waste that is repurposing or redistribution of food waste amongst households, farmers and restaurants with focus on two states of San Francisco and California in USA instead of waste why not calls us to pick it up so we use it feed the needy, or make money for you that is fertilizer.
The event culminated at Arhus University, were talents were clustered around the continent they came from and particularly our countries and we got to know more about each other in the process, we had Crown Princess of Denmark and Prime Minister of Denmark in our presence as an inspiration especially at the award by bestsellers, great feeling really great feeling for me.
It is at the point I wish to specially thank Civicus International for considering my application and selecting me as one of their talents nominated for the #UNLEASHLAB2017, I truly appreciate this from CIVICUS. I will share the knowledge in Nigeria and across Africa and I will always be open to opportunities from Civicus International and also more collaborations.
Thank you Unleash…..
Thank you CIVICUS INTERNATIONAL, You guys are the best.
