Susan Sarandon, et al, are seriously delusional if they think Bernie doesn’t have an ego. You can’t even dare to run for president without one. I thought the restaurant analogy was lame. “I wasn’t too fond of the steak or lobster, but they make a helluva hamburger!” may not be a ringing endorsement of a steakhouse, but it works for a burger joint like the Democratic Party. And considering the way he was treated by Hillary and her followers, Bernie has earned the right to sport a chip on his shoulder. If Cunningham had spent any time in the Party or the Progressive Caucus in California, he’d know the Progressive’s unwritten slogan is, “I’m a Democrat, damn it!” uttered with all the self-contempt one can muster. Is Bernie perfect? No. But his eyes are on the prize, a bolder, better Democratic Party. And that’s a winning slogan if I’ve ever heard one.
