Healthcare isn’t well suited to “disruption” in the Uber/AirBnB sense.

Healthcare is heavily regulated for a very valid reason — safety. As it happens — much of the regulation also happens to protect revenue — so it’s also regulatory capture.

The challenge on the road ahead is sorting out which regulation is safety and serves a useful purpose — and which is simply regulatory capture.

Rick Scott (Governor of Florida) said it best.

“How many businesses do you know that want to cut their revenue in half? That’s why the healthcare industry won’t reform the healthcare industry.”
