What did you do this past week?

This week was filled with intense TA training for my upcoming TA discussions. I had to take a rigorous course on how to properly manage a discussion section, and it was very informative and fun! I have gotten a lot more acclimated with my classes and have started to get a better sense of my schedule and the optimal times to study. Besides schoolwork, I took my cat, Pancho, to the vet for the first time. He was very healthy and everything turned out fine. Unfortunately, since he is only a kitten, I have to take him many more time within the next few weeks. I hope everything stays on course!

What’s in your way?

Right now the only thing in my way is finding an optimal time to set school aside and enjoy things I like to do. My schedule is busier than it way in previous years and I am finding it hard to manage some personal time.

What will you do next week?

Next week I will hand out my first quiz in discussion section. I hope I can answer students questions efficiently and in a way that makes sense. I am very nervous and excited for it at the same time!

What’s your experience of the class?

So for it has been great. I have never used GitLab before and integrating with a testing environment seems really helpful and I look forward to getting for familiar with it. I have had previous internships, so I am familiar with common engineering practices, but this class seems to be much more concise then what I am used to.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is GitGutter. If you are a Sublime Text user (like me!) then you will love this plugin. It displays the gitdiff on the left side of your code. It lets you easily see which parts of the code have changed and can also let you know if portions of your file are out of sync with a remote repo.
