Hi Jennifer, thank you for this. You may be right — I’m primarily going on the percentage of my female friends that shared their stories on Facebook (and through personal interaction), and that was almost 100%.
And then, looking at how men responded, and many took the approach of, “Well, his penis wasn’t inside you, so it doesn’t count”…
That hurt. And I’m a guy. I can only imagine how a response like that feels to those abused.
So, perhaps 100% of men aren’t guilty of sexual abuse, harassment, pressure, etc. But I’d be curious — if we took every action of invasion, discomfort, fear, etc., and looked at that as abuse… how high would the percentage be?
My guess is, pretty damn high.
