Those trends can be interesting, but more in a macro-sense — “what is the world talking about right now?” Clicking into any of these topics is simply not that compelling and never has been. Here’s what random people are tweeting about #FoodVillains — great. This area should only be shown in a drop down when you engage the search box. Instead, it’s marquee. Sigh.
Twitter, Still Exploring…

My assumption was Twitter said wow, if we surface trending stuff, people love to gobble that up, so we’ll get even more eyeballs than before. From that perspective, I understood. Explore is effectively a polite way for Twitter to say “clickbait” and maybe the eyeballs thing will pay off. In the short term. Maybe.
