There’s definitely a lot of great content being made for learning to code. Swift Playgrounds does a lot of things really well. The main point of the article is not that you should favour one over the other, but that there may be an easier to follow progression (for the majority) if you go from icons, to blocks, to text. “Students who used the blocks in the lower grades really like using the text based blocks” seems to be in line with this thinking.
