Hello World

My First Post on Medium

I’ve wanted to write something…anything…onto a web page…ANY web page…for a while. There’s so much content on the internet that it’s easy to become lost in the infinite scrolling, clicking, and consuming. Transitioning from more of a consumer to a producer has been on my list of to-do’s, but I’ve never really pulled the trigger. Of course I’ve Facebooked, Tweeted, Instagrammed, Snapchatted, HeyTelled, and WeChatted, but does an occasional social media post really count as creating something? Danprobinson.com has been hosted for a while as well, but I’ve never felt good about the design, so have never been able to get over the hump and just put words on the page. Certainly my own fault.

When I looked at my email today a simple call to action caught my attention though. The timing, message, and perceived ease were too good to pass up. Thanks Medium.

So what’s next? The easy answer is time will tell, but I hope that writing becomes more of a regular routine. It’s a skill I need to develop that will allow me to formulate my opinions in a more focused way. Let’s not get too serious too fast, but I think a good range of topics would be technology, New York City, sustainability, with some NBA related posts here or there. I’m practically incapable of talking about much more than that.

It would be nice if a few people are interested in following along to see what happens (read: my mom and girlfriend), but that’s not important and I plan to write for myself. Here’s to hoping it works out.
