I read stories like this……and I am reminded that when it comes to almost all organized religions…..they don’t support anger, persecution, labeling and condemning of others or non-believers. So when I read this story, I immediately see that it has less to do about religion….than about something else such as political agenda, attacking others, or some other angry or hateful motivation.

Few would argue that as a race/religion, Jews have a long history of persecution, slavery, and every kind of unfair treatment. That is not in question.

However, as soon as any person or any group somehow feels that THEIR pain and suffering is somehow more important than that of others…they in fact become part of the problem. I have yet to run into a human being on this planet that does not have pain and suffering as part of their life. We have all been persecuted against for our color, race, national origin, sexual orientation, physical/mental health, gender, age…..and this list could go on for pages. Regardless, EVERY single person that has ever lived has had this pain and suffering. It is part of life’s journey.

Unfortunately in more recent times, people have become increasingly self-centered and narcissistic. They have come to believe that only MY pain and suffering is worthy of attention…..and that I have a right or duty to bring my pain and suffering to everyone else….in complete disregard that others already have their own pain and suffering they are dealing with.

The result is more pain and suffering for all. Rarely is your pain and suffering made better…..and your self-centered attitude toward your pain does not open your heart and mind to the plight of others. It’s such a selfish perspective….and ultimately leaves the individual unsatisfied about their issues….and unable or unwilling to help others. It’s a vicious circle of defeat, not only perpetuating, but growing the about of pain and hate in the world.

So perhaps instead of running to the world with your “flag” of pain and suffering demanding and expecting all others to help…….START by opening your heart AND ears…..and listen or better yet ask what you can do to alleviate the pain and suffering of others. In the meantime, continue to turn the other cheek for your own pain and suffering. Only in this will you find peace…and hopefully relief.
