Did Ed Sheeran Steal davidope’s Most Iconic GIF?

In his video for “Sing,” Ed Sheeran clearly lifted artist davidope’s most iconic GIF and used a modified, blue-colored still of it as a backdrop. The video is nearly two years old, but I only saw it for the first time today (because it’s Ed Sheeran) when a friend, one of many artists influenced by davidope’s work, pointed it out to me:

The video has more than 147.6 million views, which ostensibly translates into a decent chunk of revenue.
